- mediumProcess-control routes are guarded only by Origin==Host and are reachable via DNS rebinding
lib/index.js:65trustedRequest() accepts any request whose socket peer is loopback, that carries no forwarding headers, and whose Origin host literally equals the Host header. A page served from an attacker domain that rebinds that domain to 127.0.0.1 satisfies all three: the browser connects to loopback (remoteAddress 127.0.0.1) and both Host and Origin name the attacker domain, so the check passes. The page can then POST /dsh-process-control/restart or /quit (restarting or killing the DSH host) and GET /status (pid, port, tmp log/url paths, node version) against an unauthenticated endpoint. lib/restart.js:164The default urlFile is an os.tmpdir() file written by the detached helper with fs.writeFileSync(urlFile, url + "\n") using the default mode (0o666 & ~umask, typically 0644), and the replacement's stdout log that holds the `?token=` line is opened with fs.openSync(logOut, "a"), same default mode and a name predictable to the second. On a multi-user host another local account can read the fresh shell token and drive the DSH UI. Requires a restart to happen and a hostile local user.
Process-control routes are guarded only by an Origin==Host loopback check (bypassable via DNS rebinding), and the restart helper persists a boot token URL into a world-readable /tmp path.
Rule (2026-10-28): when a dynamic conclusion exists it is authoritative (it may raise or lower the level); the static scan tier (vet primary, dsh backstop) applies only when there is none (not queued / audit failed / withdrawn). The audit never writes the exemption list (exemptions are manual only); a wrong conclusion is withdrawn by human review and the tier falls back to the static scan tier.
